Abstract

Printer and ink supplier have partnered to use a variety of statistical based approaches to optimize the printing of telephone directories. Many of the techniques currently part of Six-Sigma continuous improvement programs were used to enhance the four-color process printing of yellow pages. Tools such as measurement system analysis, design of experimental and statistical process control will be highlighted. Our results lead us to important relationships among printing variables that allow the quality of finished product to be improved, maintained and repeated regardless of production location.
