Abstract

A heat stabilization system controls printing impression on or off the run on high speed Web Offset printing presses. The system is proven on production and carries out the following benefits. Make Ready Waste - especially Monday morning start ups and re-start waste are dramatically reduced making huge paper savings especially on short run presses. Dot sharpening - down to 12-17% gains all across the web, water cut back. Loads removed from bearings, bearers, journals, and gears all reducing maintenance, plate cracking, and web breaks. Temperature of printing cylinders reduced up to 35bF and maintained whether press is running or not.
