The Measurement of Blanket Release.

Blanket release tests have been run on fourteen blanket samples sent to the Foundation Tests were performed in the laboratory using the Prufbau Printability Tester to develop a procedure for the evaluation of the release properties of blankets. Three tentative test procedures were developed. The blankets were then run in pairs, two half-blankets mounted on one cylinder on a commercial printing press. This procedure gave a series of paired comparisons. A multiple regression analysis also was done on the relationship between blanket release and surface smoothness, and the velocity of sound in the top rubber layer with and without having been soaked in an ink oil.
