Abstract

Data are presented from a series of sixteen consecutive sheet-fed press runs in which the only variable changed was the paper. The thirteen different papers run ranged from newsprint to number one coated. In addition, a very absorbent gravure paper was run, along with TYVEK, a polyethylene fiber based substrate. Data on density range at a printed ink film thickness of 1.0 gms/m2 is given together with further evidence on the validity of the method used to measure ink film thickness. Data is also presented here on competitive IGT prints made under a variety of conditions, which show the effect of printing pressure and roller material on ink-lay.
