Abstract

The collapse of concepts such as length of a curve or surface area of a surface in cases where the object is irregular over many scales of length leads to the concept of dimension to non integral values. By using the technique of the fractal analysis the fissured peripheral structures of several chaotic objects in the offset printing such as peripheries of half tone dots or surface properties of printing plates were characterized with the fractional dimension.
