Image Fit and Register on a Multi-Color Sheetfed Press -- Field Observations and Experiments

Experiments were conducted on a multicolor 40-inch sheetfed press to measure and document the degree of image distortion when certain variables were changed. The three variables for study were: (a) impression cylinder to blanket cylinder pressure, (b) blanket cylinder diameter, and (c) plate tension. An extensive test procedure documenting the preparation of original film as well as the actual press test is given.
