Abstract

The Yule-Nielsen model has long been used to predict the density of halftone tints. However, relatively little work has been addressed to predicting the color (particularly, in a colorimetric sense) of a tint. Equations which enable the calculation of the tristimulus values X, Y, and Z of halftone tints are developed in this paper. These equations are rigorous under the Yule-Nielsen assumptions. Verification of these equations was made using spectrophotometric data. The same level of accuracy was not possible under the additional assumption made by the Murray-Davies model. Verification of these equations was made using spectrophotometric data. The same level of accuracy was not possible under the additional assumption made by the Murray-Davies model.
