Abstract
In large format lithography the one area of prepress which has defied automation over the years has been the function of stepping film into an imposition as a preliminary to plate-making. Several new systems have made their appearance in the last year to break through this impasse. The method described herein uses a tape controlled camera, which converts loose individual pieces of copy directly into one-piece film flats or plates. This system is capable of handling 150 line halftones easily including top quality color separations as well as the most demanding line work.
