Abstract

Some examples of association products are mentioned, an association product being defined basically as a combination of materials which interact through physical forces rather than by chemical bonding. Particular attention is then paid to the association products formed by polyethylene oxide resins and phenolic resins and designated Polyox-phenolics (Polyox is a trademark of Union Carbide Corp.). The formation and properties of these products are discussed together with their incorporation into lithographic plates, specifically the Rogers 2000 plate whose structure and characteristics are described. The use of association-product-type plates for continuous tone litho printing is also mentioned.
