Misregister and web breaks in the critical period following a paster represent one of the major sources of printed waste and downtime in rotogravure press operations. Basic to a general understanding of the complicated dynamic relationships between tension, paper shrinkage and register is the evaluation of recordings, taken on presses of different design and operating under varying conditions.
