Abstract

Misregister and web breaks in the critical period following a paster represent one of the major sources of printed waste and downtime in rotogravure press operations. Basic to a general understanding of the complicated dynamic relationships between tension, paper shrinkage and register is the evaluation of recordings, taken on presses of different design and operating under varying conditions. This paper -translated from German - indicates how these complicated and economically important problems are attacked in the pressrooms of one of the most important printers in Europe.
