Abstract

An objective method for evaluation of the print quality using image analyzer is developed. The instrument optically measures the image of the print. Exploratory experiments were conducted and illustrated that the total quality profile can be used to objectively rank the quality. Criteria for the ranking are suggested. Prints reflecting variations in press speeds, impressions, subjectively. It is thus concluded that the instrumental method which has been used for the measurement of dirt in paper can be applied to the evaluation of print quality.
