Abstract
The analysis of defects in aluminum litho plates is an important step in tracking down the source of these defects and eliminating them. Microscopic examination is a particularly powerful tool for this purpose. Decoration of defects by means of etching or anodizing can be helpful both in quality control and diagnostic work. Specific examples of defects and methods of identification are discussed.
