Abstract

This paper describes a simplified method of establishing variability limits in CIE space. These limits were determined for colors produced by a 3-colorant printing system. Information for setting limits on a color is obtained from a series of charts by using the CIE specifications of that color. No calculations are required. The development of these charts is described. These charts not only provide a simplified method of setting variability limits but also present a unique means of examining process variability as a function of location in CIE space.
