Abstract

An ink balance check is made during the course of the GATF Technical Plant Audit. The criteria involve an arithmetical comparison of reflection densities of the two primaries which form each of the three secondary colors. Technical Services Report No. 21, How to Correlate Press Results With Pre-Press Proofs, (1) describes the method used to determine optimum primary color balance. A computer program was developed to perform the ink balance calculation, with the capability for plotting actual versus optimum reflection density values for the yellow, magenta, and cyan primaries.
