Abstract

It is now possible to produce a proof on paper, with plates and inks in less than half an hour together with a set of progressives and to pull a few hundred sheets in a few more minutes. This is obtained by means of an original combination of techniques, some of them entirely new, gathered in a small press of a modular design. The inking system is the most important feature of this press. Derived from a French patent recently improved by a Swiss patent still pending in the States, it involves only one inking roller and a steel rod. There are no keys in the fountain. Whatever the subject the ink film delivered is constant all over the plate. The calibration for a given printing density remains and there is no need for readjustments between jobs.
