Abstract

Electrocurtain is a new energy form developed by Energy Sciences, Inc., and being commercialized by ElectriGraphics Inc. The capability of this energy form is apparent when it is captured in newly formulated inks. Uniform and deep penetration of the energy completely cures single or multiple layers of ink of any color faster than presses can print. This is accomplished in a single pass through the Electrocurtain without any apparent substrate heating. The safety of the process is the result of the solvent-free ink system used. Energy costs are low. The readily controllable energy parameters arid the wide variety of ink types and substrates that can be used make this the ink dryer of tomorrow.
