Abstract

This article is the slightly modified text of a multi-image, wide-screen presentation on the problems of color control. It attempts to record the principles illustrated in the lecture, which defy easy transition to the printed page. It analyzes the complexities of seeing, judging, and reproducing color photographs by printing methods. The subjective nature of color perception is discussed, and comments from industry experts further explore the controls and technology needed to produce accurate printed color.
